John Small is a professional landscape architect and ecologist with more than 25 years of experience. His expertise includes landscape architecture, ecological restoration, and fisheries and wetland sciences. His background in ecology, geology, design, and construction management supports his understanding of the complex relationship between the built environment and natural systems. His experience includes the development of numerous restoration plans and projects on the shorelines, deltas, estuaries, and lagoons of Puget Sound. John has contributed to several scientific studies that underly the importance of nearshore habitat in salmon recovery, including identification of intact and impaired process drivers of habitat structure such as net shore transport and organic flux. He has applied this scientific understanding to develop high functioning restoration projects that allow for public use and enjoyment of the site.
