We have three openings: full-time Senior Scientist and Project Scientist, and half-time Accounting Specialist. Details regarding the positions and how to apply are below.

ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST (half-time position)

Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in a similar accounting position for a professional services or consulting firm.
  • Computer literacy and demonstrated experience with databases and Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint; advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, statistics functions).
  • GPS and ArcGIS experience.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    SENIOR SCIENTIST
    We are looking for a full-time Senior Scientist who enjoys working in a creative, collaborative, deadline-driven environment. With this individual’s demonstrated success meeting or exceeding the starting responsibilities, this position offers room for growth.

    Required qualifications include:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, ecology, fisheries, or related field.
    • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in environmental consulting or related organization; Puget Sound experience is preferable.
    • Demonstrated and broad range of experience in natural resource related field activities including stream and habitat assessment and restoration; aquatic ecology (marine and/or freshwater); wetlands ecology, delineation, mitigation, and monitoring.
    • Demonstrated experience helping clients with regulatory compliance (e.g., permitting: Sec. 404/10, 401, HPA, Shorelines); and environmental review under SEPA/NEPA.
    • Demonstrated experience with project and task management, including scope, budget, schedules, project staff and task assignment, QA/QC, and client coordination.
    • Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint; advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, statistics functions).
    • GPS and ArcGIS experience.
    • Strong writing and presentation skills.
    • Physically able to work in the office and in the field; position may require heavy lifting.
    • Available and flexible to work long hours during the week and weekends. Work can include travel, participation in public meetings, on-site work at construction sites, and multi-day field data collection.
    • Possess current driver’s license.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    Expected results:
    • Completes field tasks on time within allocated hours with little or no supervision.
    • Organizes and coordinates project tasks efficiently to ensure timely and quality completion and responsiveness to client needs.
    • Strictly adheres to safety guidelines and reports all questionable or unusual safety concerns to a supervisor.
    • Effectively balances multiple commitments; exhibits strong follow-through on assigned project tasks in a timely manner.
    • Exercises initiative to maintain workload and keep schedule busy with billable work; includes seeking out project work from partners and potential clients.
    • Gives effective coordination, delegation, and direction to administrative and technical staff associated with assigned projects.
    • Maintains a positive attitude and service to coworkers and clients – team player on all projects.
    • Provides timely, clear, and relevant communications to co-workers and staff in the field and office.
    • Tracks time appropriately and according to Confluence standards and time tracking guidelines.

    PROJECT SCIENTIST
    We are looking for a full-time Project Scientist who enjoys working in a creative, collaborative, deadline-driven environment. With this individual’s demonstrated success meeting or exceeding the starting responsibilities, this position offers room for growth.

    Required qualifications include:
    • Bachelor’s degree in ecology, biology, or related field.
    • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in environmental consulting or related organization; Puget Sound experience is preferable.
    • Demonstrated experience in natural-resource-related field activities (i.e., freshwater ecology, stream and habitat evaluation, wetlands ecology, delineation, mitigation, and monitoring).
    • Demonstrated experience helping clients with regulatory compliance (e.g., permitting: Sec. 404/10, 401, HPA, Shorelines); and environmental review under SEPA/NEPA.
    • Proficiency in Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Excel (including advanced functions.
    • Experience using ArcGIS.
    • Strong writing and presentation skills.
    • Physically able to work in the office and in the field; position may require heavy lifting.
    • Available and flexible to work long hours during the week and weekends. Work can include travel, on-site work at construction sites, and multi-day field data collection.
    • Small boat handling (not required but preferred).
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Possess current driver’s license.
    • Very strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail; ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while producing high-quality, accurate work.
    • Ability to work equally well both independently and collaboratively.
    • Self-directed individual who is comfortable working in a highly dynamic environment.
    Expected results:
    • Completes writing tasks on time in clear and using concise language, with minimal revisions required.
    • Completes field tasks on time within allocated hours with little or no supervision.
    • Organizes and coordinates project tasks efficiently to ensure timely and quality completion and responsiveness to client needs.
    • Strictly adheres to safety guidelines and reports all questionable or unusual safety concerns to a supervisor.
    • Communicates anticipated or incurred problems (such as delays, resource conflicts, insufficient communication, etc.) to Supervisor in a timely manner, with proposed solutions.
    • Effectively balances multiple commitments; exhibits strong follow-through on assigned project tasks in a timely manner.
    • Exercises initiative to maintain workload and keep schedule busy with billable work; includes seeking out project work from project managers.
    • Gives effective coordination, delegation, and direction to administrative and technical staff associated with assigned projects.
    • Maintains a positive attitude and service to coworkers and clients – team player on all projects.
    • Provides timely, clear, and relevant communications to co-workers and staff in the field and office.
    • Tracks time appropriately and according to Confluence standards and time tracking guidelines.
    • Represents Confluence to clients, teaming partners, and industry-related organizations in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
